The iPad 2 created so much buzz yesterday when it was unveiled by Apple. According to Steve Jobs, the new iPad hasn't just been tweeked. It's all new from the bottom up.
The new iPad will be available for purchase on March 11 in the U.S and March 25 in other countries. It has an A5 dual-core system-on-a-chip which will make the new one two times faster than the original iPad and its graphics will be “up to nine times faster.”
It is thinner than Victoria Beckham. Weighing at about 1.3 lbs, it's 33% thinner than the first iPad and also half a millimeter thinner than iPhone 4.
The sexy device which will be avilable in two colours (black and white) from Day 1 is HDMI compatible meaning you can connect it to your large screen TV using the HDMI cable converter worth $39. According to Jobs, all apps will work with this.
As rumoured earlier this year, it has front and rear cameras built in. It comes with Photo Booth, the Mac app that lets you take fun pictures of yourself. Oh did I mention Facetime and a battery life of 10 hours too?
You can also have a full recording studio on your lap with Garage Band, another Mac app but you have to purchase it for $5. It's going to be very impressive making music using your tablet. Another interesting app will be the iMovie which is the same price as the Garage Band. This app promises precision video editing, multitrack audio recording, Airplay compatibility and the ability to export movies in HD.
Did I convince you to buy one yet? If not, you will surely get one once you know that it will cost the same as the original iPad: $499 for the basic 16GB Wi-fi version, heading up to $829 for the 3G model with 64GB. Plus don't forget to buy the cool pastel coloured iPad cases.
