Let's bow our heads and pay respect to our old, obsolete but great Flip camera.
Today, Cisco announced that they “will exit aspects of its consumer businesses,” which includes shutting down the Flip. In a world full of fantastic smartphones, there's no need to carry an extra gadget no matter how superior the quality of the videos that it captures.
The demand is so low that I can understand the company from pulling it off the market. End of the day business is about making money not quality, selling big numbers, not making a product that lasts, and filling a demographics perceived expectations. It's the American dream.
